Why Enter?
The Awards provide extremely high profile for those involved and an excellent opportunity for public recognition.

They also provide:

  • An opportunity to focus on your business by identifying your core strengths and competitive advantages
  • A good discipline to review your business and think about what makes you different from other organisations
  • Staff with a sense of pride in the organisation they work for, developing a unified team culture
  • New levels of motivation and enthusiasm by getting staff involved in the entry process.

A key feature of these Awards is the simplicity of entering. The entry form is based around 4 key questions including your business activity, key characteristics, your point of difference and your people management.  We do not require any further supporting information such as financials.  Most entrants estimate the entry form takes on average 3-4 hours to complete.

 

How can I get involved?

Enter yourself or nominate an organisation that you feel is worthy of recognition. This could include suppliers or clients you deal with. You can make as many nominations as you like.
Entries Open: Thursday January 28th 2010
Entries Close: Friday March 5th 2010

How much will it cost our organisation to enter?
There is no cost to enter The Gold Awards.
Should you make it through to becoming a finalist, you are provided with a significant amount of public profile and given the opportunity to advertise alongside this profile.
You will be required to purchase tickets to the Awards Ceremony.
 
What happens after I register or nominate someone?
If you register your own organisation, you will be sent an entry form by our Gold Awards team to complete which is due in by Friday March 5th.

If you nominate someone, we will make contact with them informing them they have been nominated and send the entry form.

we do not disclose who nominated them, this is kept confidential. If you inform them, please encourage them to enter

 
How long will it take to complete the entry form?
One of the attributes of these Awards is the simplicity of entering. There are 4 key questions that will need you to provide some details of your organisation on. Entrants last year believed it took them around 3-4 hours. We do not require any financial information or supporting material.

How will I be judged?

By your business achievements based on the previous calendar year, eg. the 2010 Awards will be based on 2009 calendar year.

  • Key characteristics of your business
  • People management

Who are the judges?
40 business and community leaders. All judging is done independently and taken from the information submitted in the official entry form.

What do I win?
You will receive the Gold Awards category winners certificate and a huge amount of public profile and recognition from being announced as a finalist through to the winners announcement.
The supreme winner is chosen from ALL the finalists and receives a trophy.

Can I enter if I don’t have business plans, marketing plans, OSH plans in place?
Yes you can. The judges will base their decisions on your achievements from the previous calendar year and your points of difference, key characteristics and people management.
 
How do I get involved in the two best practice awards (the ACC Workplace Safety Award and the Green Gold Award)?
These best practice awards recognise businesses committed to workplace safety systems and procedures, and sustainability practices, respectively.
There are separate sections of the entry form for these two best practice awards which can be entered in their own right or in addition to one of the 8 sector categories.

How do I choose which category I should enter?
You will generally find that your organisation could fit into more than one category. You are only entitled to enter ONE of the 8 sector categories. Choose the category that best fits the capability/achievements you wish to profile.
You can enter one or both of the best practice awards (the ACC Workplace Safety Award or Green Gold Awards).

What are the benefits of being involved in the awards?
Aside from the strong public profile and recognition. Previous entrants have commented on the entry process providing:

Should you make it through as a finalist, there are a number of advertisements in The Dominion Post outlining the finalists and winners names, editorial coverage in The Dominion Post, inclusion in a 16 page supplement distributed with every copy of The Dominion Post a week prior to the Awards.

Opportunities to expose your business achievements to the wider business community of Wellington.
 
Where can I obtain photos?
Contact the Gold Awards team a week after the Awards Ceremony for details on how to obtain these.

If I am a finalist do I receive a free ticket?
No, you are required to purchase these, please contact the Gold Awards team.
 
What do I wear to the awards ceremony?
This is a formal event with the dress standard being black tie for men (tuxedo or suit and tie), and evening wear for women.
 
When will I get my tickets issued?
Tickets will be issued the week or two prior to the Awards Ceremony.

What is the cost to attend the ceremony?

Ticket Prices  $160.00 + GST per person   $1,500.00 +GST for a corporate table (10 tickets)
