1) Why Enter?
The Awards provide great profile for those involved and an excellent opportunity for public recognition.

 

They also provide:


   •  An opportunity to focus on your business by identifying your core strengths and competitive advantages
   •  A good discipline to review your business and think about what makes you different from other organisations
   •  Staff with a sense of pride in the organisation they work for, helps in developing a unified team culture
   •  New levels of motivation and enthusiasm by getting staff involved in the entry process.

A key feature of these Awards is the simplicity of entering.

​

The Online Entry  Forms have up to 15 easy questions covering your business story, the last 12 months in particular, and your goals.


We do NOT require any further supporting information such as financials.

2) How can I get involved? 

Enter yourself or nominate an organisation that you feel is worthy of recognition. This could include your suppliers or clients you deal with. You can make as many nominations as you like.

3) How much will it cost our organisation to enter?
There is NO COST to enter The Gold Awards.
Should you make it through as a Finalist, you are provided with a significant amount of public profile.
You will ONLY be required to pay for any Tickets should you wish to attend the awards night.

4) What happens after I register or nominate someone?
If you register your own organisation, you will be sent the Entry Guidelines by our Gold Awards team to complete.

If you nominate someone else, we will make contact with them informing them they have been nominated and send them  links to the online Entry Forms to consider.

Please Note: we do not disclose who nominated them, this is kept confidential. If you do choose to inform them that you were the Nominator, please encourage them to enter

5) How long will it take to create my Entry?
There is a 2 stage Entry Process.

​

Stage One - Entry Application

This involves a simple online questionnaire.

There are up to 15 questions depending on which category you choose to enter.

The maximum word count ranges from 100-250 words.

This online Entry form is text only - no graphics or images required. 

We estimate it should take a senior person in any business about 1-2 hours to complete.

Stage Two - Finalists Entry

All Finalists are given the opportunity - should they wish - to elaborate on their Stage One Application.

A Stage Two Finalists Entry Guidelines will be provided to all Finalists
Finalists will have 2-3 weeks to provide this extra information including any graphics and imagery.
The time spent on your Finalist Entry depends on the number of written resources available within your organisation that you can draw from.

 

We encourage entrants to copy and paste text and graphics from their website, business plans, pitch documents and annual reports where possible.

 

Some of these Stage Two Guideline suggestions may not apply to your business.  You may want to include other information not mentioned in the Guidelines. 

 

We accept pdfs so that you can add your business graphics and flavour to the Entry. 

We do NOT require any specific financial information, although you should include some general financial indicators.

 

Do not attach any extra supporting materials. Your Stage Two Finalists Entry document is stand alone. No attachments or extra media files will be accepted.

6) How will I be judged?
By your business achievements based primarily on the previous 12 months as outlined in your Entry. 

​

The online Entry Forms are aimed at giving us a snapshot of your business with a particular focus on the last 12 months, and a short section on your future plans.

​

Once submitted your Stage One online Entry Application will go into Round 1 for the Judges to select the Finalists.

 

The Finalists will be given 2-3 weeks to prepare their  Stage 2  Finalists Entry for Round 2 to select the Winners

There are NO site visits or interviews.

7) Who are the judges?
25 or so business and community leaders. All judging is done separately and independently and is made with the information submitted in your Entry.

There are no judges panels.

8) What do I win?
You will receive a Gold Awards trophy, much public profile and recognition from the time of being announced as a Finalist through to the Winners Announcement.

The supreme winner is chosen from ALL of the 7 industry Category Winners (not including Innovation Gold) and receives another trophy.

9) Can I enter if I don’t have business plans, marketing plans, OSH plans in place?
Yes you can. The judges will base their decisions on your achievements from the previous 12 months and your points of difference, key characteristics and people management as set out in your Entry Form.

10) How do I enter the Best Practice Awards?
The 3 Best Practice Awards recognise businesses committed to positive:

1) workplace safety practices

2) sustainability practices & products
3 ) HR and wellness programmes & practices

 

They can be entered in their own right, or in addition to one of the 8 main Categories.

11) How do I choose which Category I should enter?
You will generally find that your organisation could fit into more than one Category.  However, you are only entitled to enter ONE of the 8 main industry Categories.

 

You can enter one, two, three or none of the Best Practice Awards. They are optional.
 

Choose the Category that best fits the capability/achievements you wish to profile. Checking out the Winners in each Category here may help you to decide.

12) What exposure will I receive?
Should you make it through as a Finalist, there are a series of advertisements in The Post outlining the Finalists and then the Winners, as well as editorial coverage in The Post and each Finalist business is profiled on Facebook in the lead-up to the awards night and in the event Programme.

13) Do we need to have a video?
Only if you are selected as a Finalist. We will help you to prepare the video (at no charge) ab
out your business to show at the awards night.

14) Where can I obtain photos?
The photo galleries of the Finalists Announcement event and the Awards night are hosted on the Gold Awards website and Facebook page a day or so after each event. You are welcome to download web quality versions or contact gayle@agenda-marketing.co.nz ( 027 208 8780) if you require print-quality versions - these are all provided free of charge

15) If I am a Finalist do I receive free tickets?
Unfortunately The Gold Awards are not able to subsidise the costs of food and beverage for the Finalists at the awards night.

16) What is the dress code for the awards night?
This is a formal event with the dress standard being "Black Tie" meaning dinner suit and tie for men, and evening wear for women.

 

Each year The Gold Awards has a different business-related "Event Theme" and we generally have a best-themed outfit competition with a great travel prize attached. The theme will be announced with details on the back of the Tickets. Themed dress is totally optional.

17)  How do we get tickets?
Tickets go on sale as soon as the Finalists are announced in June/July. Then  eTickets are emailed out about 2 weeks before the awards night.

18) How much are the tickets?
Ticket Prices are finalised as soon as the Finalists are announced each year.
