Happy Mondays

Chorus provides Aotearoa’s largest open-access internet network, wholesaling services to phone and broadband providers and enabling Kiwis to connect with one another – and the world.

From a “harden up and take a concrete pill” culture, Chorus’ holistic Wellbeing Programme has helped transform their workplace culture and created a positive working environment.

As described by an employee “Chorus knocks wellbeing out the park and has successfully removed the stigma of talking about mental health in the workplace”.

“Our wellbeing engagement scores are consistently above benchmark,” says Phillippa Powell (pictured) of Chorus . “Our Wellbeing Programme is literally changing people’s lives and our emphasis on wellbeing is helping to create a truly enviable employee experience.”

Mana Communications is a Trans-Tasman communications consultancy established based on the kaupapa of helping individuals grow their voice, mana and reputation.

“PR consultancies are renowned for having an unhealthy work culture - I’ve experienced this working in large, international agencies,” says founder Caleb Hulme-Moir (pictured).

“I’m determined to bring a culture where excellent work is always delivered but not at the price of employee health and wellbeing, we’re aiming to promote this kaupapa rather than the standard-burn out, clock-watching culture.”

Since covid-19 lockdowns, Mana has operated on a ‘nine-day-fortnight’ model, in which their offices in Sydney and Wellington take every second Monday off. This has resulted in higher productivity, fewer sick days being taken, and all-round happier team members.
